I read many articles about how to work smarter and how to do the same tasks with less effort and time.
But what if I'm a person who loves to work hard and I enjoy my work?what if I have already allocated a specific time for work and I'll gain nothing if I finished early?. because -for example- I have to stay at work for the work hours, or I have nothing else to do but work in these hours, or simply I managed to work that time.
If so, why not to work harder and smarter too? Is their is a reason to stop working harder If I want to work smarter? In my opinion the answer isNO.
You can work smarter to save time and energy, and use the remaining energy to do more "smart" work in the saved time, so you keep work harder.
To do so you have first to learn how to work smarter, and you will find some very good articles telling how to work smarter by managing your time, set your priorities, stop wasting time, set limited goals, sleep well, take breaks, and a lot of ways that you can find by searching the topic on the internet.
secondly you need to know how to fill the saved time with more smart work and here after you will find some good examples for that extra work you can do:
Learn new things:
Learn, learn, learn, and never stop learning. because you need to develop and to grow in your career/business. the problem is we usually don't have time to learn more. ... by working smarter, you now have time.
Take new responsibilities:
As you want to grow in your career, for sure you will take more responsibilities in your path. the surprise is you don't have to wait for new responsibilities to come to you. Go and ask for it if you have the ability to handle it.
Volunteer to help your colleges / your boss:
Being a helpful person will increase your credit and reliability. and also will give you the chance to test new responsibilities and to boost your abilities in addition to learn new things.
Check for forgotten work:
Some times, you decline some tasks to do your priorities then you forget about this declined tasks. but If you already finished your priorities by working smarter, why not working harder and finish these forgotten work too.
Network / socialize:
Networking is an important issue as many successful people said that. but it also need time and energy -especially if you tend to be introvert like me-. so if you have excess time and energy, manage some networking calls and visits.
Of course their is more smart works to do to keep work harder -while working smarter- and increase your abilities and chances to grow. If you do something smart in your excess time, I'll be glad if you shared it with us in a reply to this post.
